The U.S. economy continues to look disheartening after in excess of 3 million workers petitioned for unemployment benefits just because last week, as indicated by government work information released Thursday. 


Although that figure is down slightly from the prior week, more than 33 million Americans have now petitioned for beginning jobless claims as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, which has routed some industries to Depression-time levels. 

However even as the economy begins to slowly start up again state by state, economists expect unemployment levels to continue rising — and to stretch out across a more extensive swath of industries. 

In the mean time, the discussion over state reopenings goes on — and coronavirus cases show no sign of slowing down. As of Thursday evening, the loss of life in the U.S. is more than 76,000 and there are more than 1.2 million affirmed cases, as indicated by NBC News' count.
